The small print, in plain words
Fair use
The short version
Spanish Out Loud is for your own learning. Talk with Carlito as much as normal practice needs. To keep the service fair and running well for everyone, very heavy use may be limited at our discretion.
What fair use covers
Your plan is for one person practising their own Spanish. Daily practice, long chats, extra sessions before a trip: that’s exactly what it’s for.
What it doesn’t cover
- Sharing one account between several people.
- Automated or scripted use, such as bots or tools talking to Carlito.
- Reselling access, or using the app to produce content for other purposes.
- Anything that tries to get around the app’s normal workings.
What happens with very heavy use
Every conversation with Carlito costs us real money to run. So that the app stays affordable and quick for everyone, we may limit very heavy use at our discretion. In the app that usually just means Carlito takes a rest until the next day. If something looks unusual, we’ll try to get in touch first, and we’ll always be reasonable about it.
Questions?
If you think a limit has kicked in by mistake, or you have a special reason to practise a lot (an exam or a move to Spain, say), tell us and we’ll take a look. Email us at [email protected].
